Financial Statements Register

As of 1 January 2014 the financial statements will be published in a new Register of Financial Statements (www.registeruz.sk). The Register of Financial Statements is a public service information system to be administered by the Slovak Ministry of Finance.

Publishing the financial statements in the Register of Financial Statements has replaced the previous methods of publishing in the Commercial Bulletin and the Collection of Deeds kept by the Companies Register. The previous methods of publishing placed a large administrative and financial burden on accounting entities. Accounting entities paid approximately EUR 510,000 per year for publishing their financial statements in the Commercial Bulletin.

As of 1 January 2014 the accounting entities will no longer be obliged to submit their financial statements to several institutions. The financial statements shall be submitted only once either in electronic form through the electronic filing office of the Slovak Financial Administration (www.financnasprava.sk) or in paper form through the locally competent tax office. Thanks to the new Register of Financial Statements other state authorities will have access to the financial statements without having the accounting entities been asked therefor. In addition thereto, the financial statements will be publicly available through the website www.registeruz.sk.

Each accounting entity is obliged to file its financial statement into the Register of Financial Statements within six months after the balance sheet date at the latest. Failing to submit the financial statements to the Register of Financial Statements is considered to be an administrative tort for which a fine of up to 2 % of the total net value of assets for the period in question may be imposed under Art. 38 (2) (b) of Act No. 431/2002 Coll. on Accounting, as amended.

As of today the Register of Financial Statements already contains the old financial statements from the years 2009 till 2011. Financial Statements for the year 2012 will be added to the Register of Financial Statements step by step in this year 2014. As of 1 January 2014 the new financial statements will be published in the Register of Financial Statements automatically within 15 days from submission thereof.
